The Customer

SomethingCool.Com, a regional Managed Service Provider based in Missouri, USA, has provided small and medium-sized businesses with renowned IT support services for over 19 years. SomethingCool enables complete end-to-end IT management, specifically catering to the extended IT needs of businesses operating within educational, healthcare, and financial sectors.

The Challenge

Four years ago, SomethingCool were using QuickBooks Desktop. They had just moved to ConnectWise [Manage] and needed a complete integration, but they didn't know how to make it happen. Jeremy Porter, Partner, had tried "several" processing companies and integrations but was still feeling stressed from manual entry and fixing errors. The overtime Porter spent on accounting, was time withdrawn from making sales; inevitably, making it harder to grow his business...

The Solution

...until Porter discovered Wise-Sync, the moment "it really simplified everything." When SomethingCool came to us, our team conducted an all-encompassing migration. After only "a couple of short one-hour meetings," SomethingCool was all set-up and ready to sync. Now, SomethingCool syncs between ConnectWise Manage and QuickBooks Online, while both a Wise-Sync and Wise-Pay customer.

The Results

  • Saves up to 20 hours of manpower each week.
  • The efficiency is "almost incalculable."
  • From having a staff member at their head office to just receive checks, to no longer needing that role - payments are predominantly automated.
  • They get paid on time, every time.

"It's almost incalculable, the efficiency that it has. I was feeling stressed because we're a small company. I'm the owner, I do some of the accounting stuff, and I also manage sales, so the less time I spend on accounting, the more time that I can spend on sales and growing my company overall, which we've now been able to do over the last couple of years."

- Jeremy Porter, Partner

The Journey

SomethingCool.Com is a small, regional Managed Service Provider (MSP) based in Missouri, USA. Like many start-up and small-sized MSPs, their CEO juggled multiple hats in the early stages of the business; everywhere from consulting and sales, to finance and accounting.

Four years ago, SomethingCool were using QuickBooks Desktop. They had just moved to ConnectWise [Manage], and "wanted everything to integrate," though they struggled to find the right solution.

Jeremy Porter, Partner, recalls this time as having created immense pressure for his small business. Porter trialled and tested several processing companies and integrations, and still couldn't find the platform they desperately needed.

"I was feeling stressed, because we're a small company. I'm the owner, I do some of the accounting stuff, and I also manage sales," says Porter.

Not long after, Porter discovered Wise-Sync, and it "simplified everything." When SomethingCool came to us, our team conducted an all-encompassing migration, including the expert-led switch to QuickBooks Online, along with a complete integration to ConnectWise [Manage].

We ensured their accounts were both set-up and cross-referenced correctly, while enabling four simple buttons for SomethingCool to fulfil their accounting needs: Invoicing, payments, expenses, and inventory.

"I like that [Wise-Sync] brings invoicing and the payments of inventory, all into ConnectWise [Manage], and puts it where it should without any issues. It keeps ConnectWise and QuickBooks [Online] synced together, so the payments are always correct on both sides of the system... there's very little need for manual entry," says Porter.

Since becoming a Wise-Sync customer, SomethingCool saves up to 20 hours of manpower on accounting each week, whereby Porter declares, the efficiency is "almost incalculable."

In addition to Wise-Sync, SomethingCool is also a Wise-Pay customer. Prior to becoming a Wise-Pay customer, SomethingCool required a staff member at their head office to simply receive checks; that role no longer exists.

With Wise-Pay, SomethingCool has now automated payments, which means they're no longer obliged to physically mail out bills or collect checks in person. They now receive "very few checks," saving their company invaluable time and energy; now focused on growing other parts of the business.

From feeling stressed and working overtime due to an abundance of manual entry errors, processing inconsistencies, and vast data misalignments, to now, having a simple and streamlined solution that "just does it all for you," SomethingCool are in a much greater financial state.

"With Wise-Sync and Wise-Pay, we get payments on time, with less manpower and more time for sales. Our company's been able to grow financially," says Porter.
